Containment on an 80,000-plus-acre wildfire in Southern California grew to 23% on Tuesday, as firefighters made some progress towards the state’s most huge ongoing blaze. It was listed as being at 0% containment a day earlier.

The York Hearth in San Bernardino County now contains 8,288.8 acres in Clark County Nevada, in line with the multi-agency data system Inciweb.

Hearth crews on Monday battled “hearth whirls,” typically known as hearth tornados, spinning columns of fireside that type when excessive warmth and turbulent winds mix.

There are 389 personnel assigned to the fireplace. The trigger is beneath investigation.
